The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning creates liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities that support jobs and growth in Victoria.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Planning, Building & Heritage, the Director, Building will drive the Government’s building reform agenda, providing leadership to a specialised team responsible for maintaining and enhancing Victoria’s building system. The appointee will steer high-priority and high-profile projects, and legislative and regulatory framework reform, as well as providing authoritative advice to the Minister for Planning and senior executives across Victorian Government.
Ideally possessing building/legal/planning/engineering or similar qualifications, you bring recognised expertise in the building system, experience in policy development and reform, and a thorough understanding of statutory decision-making in building. A proven executive with a collaborative, collegial and encouraging style, you communicate a vision, generate enthusiasm and commitment, and have nurtured high-performing, agile and customer-focussed functions. Underpinning these capabilities, you embrace values-based leadership, exhibit exceptional stakeholder influencing and relationship building skills, and are adept at managing risk and service delivery outcomes.
